I have given the site a small facelift, replacing the old theme with a new and cleaner version. For some reason, I get this “theme itch” a couple of times a year, but usually I manage to let it pass without doing many changes.

This time it stuck with me though, and ended up with replacing the old theme with a new one. In fact, the old theme had been active for close to two years now, so it was time to shake things up a bit any way. The new theme gives the site a fresh and in my opinion better look. The double menus in the header makes it look more organised, and less cluttered and the static navigation header is something I’ve wanted to have for a long time now.

It just looks simpler and cleaner, especially with regards to font faces and sizes.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Nordic VMUG UserCon 2016

The 2016 Nordic VMUG UserCon in Copenhagen, Denmark, is just 11 days away, and if you haven’t registered already now is the time to do so.

As usual the speaker lineup for the event is awesome, with a lot of the usual suspects like Duncan Epping (VMware), Cormac Hogan (VMware), Lee Dilworth (VMware), and Frank Denneman (VMware), but VMware is also showing it’s commitment to VMUG by sending some non-europeans as well, like Grant Orchard and Mike Foley. This, coupled with “local” speakers like Michael RyomNicolai Sandager and Marteinn Sigurdsson this promises to be every bit as awesome as the event was last year.

I was lucky enough to attend last year, and I even had a speaker slot. To be honest, I had submitted (and gotten approval for) a session this year as well, but ultimately I’ll be unable to attend due to circumstances out of my control. Sadly there isn’t anything I can do about that, as I would have loved to be there again. I’m really bummed out that I won’t be able to see Simon Eady’s Building Self Healing Environments with vRealize Operations Manager session!

Have a look at the agenda, and register today. Join 400 of your peers at the event to attend in the nordics this year!

Again, big kudos to the danish VMUG team who puts this together every year. You’re doing an awesome organising this!

VMworld Dates 2017

Now that the seasons have changed, it’s time to look at 2017 and start planning the year.
First up, when is VMworld 2017, and  perhaps most importantly where? There has been a lot of speculation about this, and the perhaps strongest rumour was that it was moving to Berlin.

The details for the US has already been posted on vmworld.com, but for Europe all it says is “Fall”.

According to Duncan, which usually is in the know, VMworld Europe 2017 will once again be in Barcelona, but in September instead of October. The venue is yet to be announced, so here might be a change from the Fira. Update: The venue in Barcelona has now been confirmed at Fira Gran Via as per usual.

VMworld 2017 US
August 27 – August 31
Las Vegas | Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center

VMworld 2017 Europe
September 11 – September 14
Barcelona | Fira Gran Via

So there it is, block those dates in your calendar, and start working on getting permission and funding now. Budgets for 2017 are being finalised now, so it’s probably a good idea to get your request in early.
